In a group, we put a set of data into an understandable & easily readable graph using only thread and pins.

The data used: The London riots, 2011.
During a week in Summer, the youth around London became a part of riots involving looting, vandalizing, property damage etc.

Data was collected on the looting, killing, damage, theft as a group we collected all of this data and decided to show only the amount of shops that were looted during the whole of the riots.

The data we collected helped us design a thread and pin graph.
In the image above, we decided to make the diamond as big as the importance of the crime, but this obviously wasn't set out very well and so it didn't appeal as much as it should have.
These two photos show the whole graph and a close up of another aspect we tried out, rather than making the diamonds as big as the problem we tried out thickness. So according to the amount of loots a certain shop had we rolled the thread around two pins that many times i.e so if JD sports were looted 15 times during that week, we rolled the thread around the two pins 15 times.

This way we were able to see the severity of the damage to shops more clearly, rather than previously in which the sizes of the diamonds were randomly made.
Here is an example of the sort of data we analysed to help curate our own graph
